A group of bloggers are in the Domincan Republic right now, sharing what Compassion International is doing in the lives of children and families there. Follow their journey at CompassionBloggers.com.

We sponsor a little girl from DR. I can’t help but wonder if they’ll meet her. With our current national focus on the economy, it’s humbling and convicting to see glimpses of real poverty. It would be a great challenge for many these days to spare $32 a month, but the impact is real and, in many cases, eternal.

We’re on our second child with Compassion, probably 15 years now. There have been times over the years when we go into “belt-tightening” mode and we look for ways to save a little coin. I don’t pause on this line-item in the budget for very long. It’s quite possibly the most important expense I have.
